2 Kingdoms

Which kingdom do you belong to? The Kingdom of God, the Kingdom of Satan, or The Neutral Kingdom?

The truth is, there actually is no "neutral kingdom". In reality there are only 2 kingdoms. Many people, however, feel more comfortable thinking of themselves in a third neutral kingdom. This way, they don't have to face their sinful nature or a Holy God.

Jesus makes it clear in John 3:3 when He says: "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God." The term "born again" is thrown around quite a bit in today's society. But what did Jesus really mean by this? When Jesus said this, He was talking to a man by the name of Nicodemus. Nicodemus did not understand what Jesus was talking about. Nicodemus thought Jesus was talking about being born again in the flesh.

Jesus responded by saying that He was talking about a second birth of the Spirit. Jesus described what the life of someone is like who is born of the Spirit. In John 3:8, He stated: "The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit."

In other words, you don't necessarily see the wind itself, but you see its effects. When leaves and dust are blowing in the wind, you don't see the wind itself, but you see the evidence of the wind. When a person invites the Living God into their life, they are born anew in the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says that "If anyone is in Christ, they are a a new creation. The old has passed away, the new has come." You begin to see the evidence of God's Spirit at work in the life of a Christian in a similar way to how you see the evidence of the wind at work.

Every person has an empty void that can only be filled by God. Many people try to fill it with many other things. However, without God indwelling them, they can never be truly satisfied. Only when they invite the Living God to fill that void does the Holy Spirit enter into them and begins to direct their life. This is what Jesus meant by "you do not know where it comes from or where it goes." When a person becomes a Christian they choose to give up control of their life to God. Rather than directing their own life, they allow God to start directing it.

A Christian may not know exactly where God is leading them, but they put their trust in Him, knowing that He knows best. He always works things out better than we can anyhow. This is why the scriptures say that "we know that all things work together for the good to those that love Him." This is why he compares someone who is born again to the wind, not knowing where it is coming from or where it is going. When Jesus begins to direct our lives, we don't always know where He is leading us, but we know it will be good. Granted, sometimes, we do get taken through trials, to arrive at greener pastures. But if we stand firm in His direction, it is worth it everytime.
